FRESNO, Calif. - The UCF softball team exploded for four runs in the top of the seventh as the Golden Knights defeated Ball State 4-1 at the Fresno State Bulldog Classic Thursday night. The Golden Knights improved to 13-11 on the season, while the Cardinals fell to 4-4.

Allison Kime earned her ninth win of the season in the circle for UCF, giving up one run on five hits with nine strikeouts. Amanda Pick was tagged with the loss for Ball State after the Golden Knights scored four runs on five hits.

Shelly Frick came to bat for the Golden Knights with two outs in the seventh inning and doubled a full count pitch to center field. Cici Alvarez re-entered the game to run for Frick and scored on a Kacie Feaster single to right field. Amber Lamb stepped to the plate and hit a shot over the fence in the left field, scoring Feaster and making the score 4-1.

Ball State's lone run came in the bottom of the second when Kelli Jeziorski led off the inning with a single. Three batters later, she scored on a UCF error to make it 1-0.

The Golden Knights return to Bulldog Diamond Friday to take on San Diego at 4 p.m. and host Fresno State at 10 p.m. eastern.
