IRVING, Texas - After leading UCF to three victories over league opponents, sophomore Sinan Sudas earned Conference USA Tennis Athlete of the Week honors on Wednesday. He is the first Golden Knight men's player to garner C-USA recognition this season.
The Adana, Turkey native won three matches at the No. 1 spot to help the Golden Knights go a perfect 3-0 at home against C-USA foes last week. He clinched a 4-3 win for UCF versus Memphis, topping Matt Brewer, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2. Sudas then recorded a 6-2, 7-5 win over Kristijan Mitrovski as the Golden Knights topped UAB, 5-2.
The Golden Knights have won four-straight matches and are 7-2 in 2006.
In a 6-0 defeat of Southern Miss, Sudas breezed pas Marc Lux (6-2, 6-3). The sophomore also joined freshman Norman Alcantara for one victory at No. 1 doubles. On the year, Sudas is 6-3 at No. 1 singles.
UCF returns to action on March 7, hosting Penn.
