Women's Track Travels to UF Pepsi Invitational Sunday

Feb. 4, 2006

ORLANDO - An abbreviated line-up of 14 athletes competes in the UF Pepsi Invitational on Sunday as the UCF women's track and field team returns to Gainesville for the second time this season.

Among those competing is sophomore Victoria Chin, who races in the 55-meter hurdles and the 4x400m relay. Earlier this season, she posted a time of 8.31 in the 55mH at the same indoor facility. Coming off an impressive debut in the indoor pentathlon last weekend at the UNC Fast Times meet, freshman Sheree Carter joins Chin in the 55mH and also competes in the long jump with senior Lynssey Hicks and freshman Dione Thomas.

Juniors Jenny Rogan and Kaprice Williams and freshman Olinka Crusoe headline a list of athletes in the sprints. Williams owns the team's top times in the 55m, 60m and 200m this year, while Rogan has posted a team best in the 400m event. Crusoe is looking to build upon an impressive pair of efforts in the 400m and 800m at UNC.

The pole vaulters also return to action for the second time this year. Sophomore Michelle Teuton and Kelsey Bealert both posted marks of 10-feet, 2 inches (3.10m) in Gainesville in January.

UCF is also well-represented in the distance races, where senior Andrea Morrow and sophomore Elizabeth Miller compete. Morrow is an NCAA qualifier and the school record holder in the steeplechase.

The Golden Knights had a strong showing in their 2006 indoor debut at the UF Intercollegiate Invitational on Jan. 15.
