Two UCF Baseball Recruits Garner Preseason All-America Honors

Feb. 24, 2006

ORLANDO - Two members of UCF's early signing recruiting class have been named preseason high school All-Americans by Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball News. For the first time in UCF history, the Golden Knights had two players from a recruiting class garner All-America honors.

Right-handed pitcher Jacob Brigham (Ocoee, Fla./Central Florida Christian Academy) was named a first-team preseason All-American by Collegiate Baseball News and a third-team All-American by Baseball America. Brigham led the Central Florida-area with 141 strikeouts last season as a junior. Brigham finished the 2005 season 9-2 with a 0.51 ERA in 68 innings of work. He yielded just 20 hits on the season and his 141 strikeouts were the third-highest total of any pitcher on Baseball America's three preseason All-America teams.

Left-handed pitcher Glenn Gibson (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches) garnered second-team preseason All-American honors by Collegiate Baseball News. The New Yorker has a 17-3 career mark with a 0.64 ERA in 132 innings of work. He has yielded just 40 hits and has totaled 247 strikeouts and only 38 walks during his career. Gibson has tossed three no-hitters and three one-hitters during his prep career. He was named all-state and all-county as a junior and was the Suffolk Pitcher of the Year in 2005.

UCF has signed three high school All-Americans under recruiting coordinator Craig Cozart's three-year tenure.
