DELAND, Fla. - Cici Alvarez was 5-for-8 at the plate with one RBI and three runs as UCF fell to Western Michigan, 6-5, and Winthrop, 8-3, Friday afternoon at the Stetson Tournament in DeLand, Fla. The Golden Knights are 6-7 on the season, while the Broncos are 1-1 and the Eagles are 5-6.
"The team did not come out with any intensity today and we were never able to get it together," said head coach Renee Luers-Gillispie. "Some highlights were when Cici stepped it up in several key situations, Jennifer (Tomasetti) with big plays at shortstop and Breanne (Javier) with her bat."

Winthrop came back in the second and matched UCF's two-spot with one of their own and added two more runs in the third.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Eagles took an 8-2 lead when the team scored four runs on two hits and two errors.
Javier scored UCF's third run of the game on a Shelly Frick sacrifice fly to left field.
