Roebuck, Chins Lead UCF in Day One of C-USA Indoor Championship.

HOUSTON, Texas - Senior Tiffany Roebuck, senior Diana Chin and sophomore Victoria Chin paced the UCF women's track and field team as the Golden Knights completed the first day of competition at the 2006 Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championship.

In the weight throw, Roebuck bettered the previous school record by eight feet as she placed second with a mark of 57-feet, nine inches. She now owns the UCF records in all four weighted throwing events, including the shot put, discus and hammer throw.

Meanwhile, freshman Sheree Carter improved upon her personal best in the pentathlon as she scored 3,229 points to take fifth place overall.

Also tying for fifth place in the pole vault with identical leaps of 10-6 were UCF junior Katie Fowke and sophomore Michelle Teuton.

Later in the day, Diana Chin took third in the long jump with a season-best 19-1.25 and also qualified for the finals of the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.81. Her younger sister Victoria broke the school record during the preliminaries of the 60mH at 8.71 and also advanced to the event final.

Elsewhere on the track, junior Karen Kozub and freshman Shantile Blackburn qualified for the finals of the 800m as they both recorded season bests in the event.

Through six events, Rice was in first with 51 points followed by host Houston with 34.5 points. UCF recorded 27 points for third place but both Tulsa (26 pts.) and Southern Miss (25) were nipping on the Golden Knights' heels.
