UCF Men's Tennis Hosts "C-USA Shootout"

ORLANDO - Starting Thursday, the UCF men's tennis team will welcome some of its league opponents to Orlando as it hosts the "UCF/Conference USA Shootout." In addition to the host Golden Knights, East Carolina, Memphis, Southern Miss and UAB are participating in the event.

UCF will open play on Thursday, hosting Memphis at 2 p.m. All matches will be played on campus at the UCF Tennis Complex. Admission is free to all contests.

"This is a great chance for us to compete against some of our Conference USA opponents," said UCF head coach Bobby Cashman. "Our team will have the opportunity to play three quality opponents at home and it will be a great challenge for our guys."

The Golden Knights (4-2) are in their first season in C-USA. The other schools participating in the event are all returning members.

The hosts will face UAB on Saturday at 9 a.m. and then close the weekend on Sunday versus Southern Miss at 1:30 p.m.

UCF will be facing Memphis and Southern Miss for the first time. The Tigers are 2-5 on the season and have dropped five-consecutive matches.

Southern Miss (0-4) has not played since Feb. 12.

UAB owns a 2-1 edge in the all-time series with the Golden Knights. The Blazers are 2-1 in 2006.
