ORLANDO - The UCF dance team "Knightmoves" qualified for the final round of the 2006 College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship at Disney's Wide World of Sports® Saturday afternoon. The team is currently ranked fourth overall in the competition.

"I am very pleased with our performance today," said Knightmoves coach Amanda Willard. "Hopefully we will move up at least one spot tomorrow to be in the top three."

Knightmoves is fourth behind Minnesota, Wisconsin and Tennessee.

Friday night, Randy Brown and Jackie Martin of the UCF cheerleader squad finished third in the partner stunt competition.

"That was a great way for us to start off the weekend," said UCF cheerleader coach Linda Gooch.

The third place finish was the highest ever for UCF.

The cheerleaders will be aiming for their second national title Sunday around 8:15 p.m., while the Knightmoves is looking for their first at 7:10 Sunday night.

Tickets for the national championship are $30 per day and can be purchased at Disney's Wide World of Sports®.
