TUCSON, Ariz. - UCF junior pitcher Tim Bascom (Dunedin, Fla./Dunedin) was named a third-team preseason All-American by Collegiate Baseball News Tuesday. It marked the second preseason All-American honor for Bascom. He was also named a third-team All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association earlier in the month.
In 2005, Bascom led UCF with a 10-2 record and a 3.10 ERA in 16 games. He led UCF in innings pitched (113.2) and strikeouts (113). The 113 strikeouts ranked sixth in UCF single-season history while his 10 victories tied for sixth in the UCF single-season annals.
Bascom's 10 wins in 2005 are the third-highest total of any pitcher named to the Louisville Slugger Collegiate Baseball All-America teams. He was a first-team Atlantic Sun all-conference pitcher in 2005.
The Golden Knights open the 2006 campaign Saturday, February 4 at Florida International.
