ORLANDO - Junior forward Roberta Pelargio and senior defender Courtney Baines of the UCF women's soccer team were named Third Team All-Southeast Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) recently. The award was the first for both.
Pelarigo led the Golden Knights in goals (14), game-winning goals (4), points (32) and shots (106). She also made her mark in the record books for shots in a season ranking second and game-winning goals in a season, ranking eighth.
Baines, who was one of the captains for the 2005 Golden Knights, was second on the team in assists (5). She was named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year after holding league opponents to just six goals in nine matches.
In addition to the Third Team All-Southeast Region honor, Pelarigo and Baines were also named to the soccerFLA.com All-Florida Team and C-USA First Team All-Conference.
The Golden Knights ended the 2005 season 12-10 and 8-1 in Conference USA play.
