ORLANDO- The UCF women's basketball team added three more recruits to their 2006-07 class when it earned commitments from a post player and two guards, head coach Gail Striegler announced on Monday.
Joining the Golden Knights as a transfer from Seminole Community College is Lynette Jackson. A 6-4 post from Fayetteville, N.C., she was an all-conference selection a year ago. She attended Douglas Byrd High School.
A 5-10 guard, Kristen Thomas attends Orlando's Edgewater High School, where she averaged 14 points and eight rebounds last season. She was also an all-city selection.
Also becoming a part of the UCF backcourt is 5-7 guard Chelsie Wiley of Riviera Beach, Fla. She recorded 13 points and 10 rebounds per game as she helped her Suncoast High School team to a 26-2 mark and an appearance in the Class 4A Final Four.
"We are excited to bring these talented young women to our program," said Striegler. "Lynette runs the floor well and has the ability to be a dominating presence on the block. Kristen is a fantastic athlete and Chelsie is a great shooter that will help our long range."
The Golden Knights finished with a 19-10 overall mark during 2004-05 as they earned their third consecutive Atlantic Sun Regular Season Championship. In 2005-06, UCF begins its inaugural season in Conference USA.
