ORLANDO, Fla. - The UCF rowing team opens its fall schedule at the Head of Chattahoochee in Chattanooga, Tenn. against some of the nation's best programs, including Miami, Tennessee and Texas.
At last year's Head of Chattahoochee, Texas took home first with UCF second and Kansas third.
UCF has a total of four boats entered in the Championship Eight race in the Head of Chattahoochee Regatta, where there are 27 boats registered to compete.
The course is located on the Chattahoochee River in downtown Chattanooga. There are a couple obstacles that the teams will have to overcome such as two bridges and narrowing of the river.
The Championship Eight race is schedule for 11 a.m.
The Golden Knights are coming off an exciting 2005 spring season when the team won the team captured both the Florida Intercollegiate Rowing Association (FIRA) Championships and Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association (SIRA) Championships.
In addition to the two first place finishes last year, UCF also had strong showings at the San Diego Crew Classic, Petrakis Cup and Hurricane Invitational.
The UCF rowing team will wrap up its fall schedule next weekend at the FIRA Fall Race in Fellsmere, Fla.
