ORLANDO - The UCF track and field team signed Orlando native Jessica Francis to a National Letter of Intent (NLI), the Golden Knights' head coach Marcia Mansur-Wentworth announced on Tuesday.
Francis, a thrower who attends Boone High School, has personal bests of 39-feet, 11 inches in the shot put and 141-9 in the discus. Her efforts have earned her Boone's Best Field Event Performance for the past three years.
She has also been named Orange County's Athlete of the Week by the Orlando Sentinel during her career.
"With her unlimited potential, Jessica will be a great addition to our already strong throwing lineup," said Mansur-Wentworth. "She is an outstanding young woman and we are thrilled to have her join us next season."
The Golden Knights won six consecutive Atlantic Sun Conference Championships prior to moving into Conference USA this season.
