ORLANDO, Fla. - The UCF women's rowing head coach Leeanne Crain announced the Golden Knights' 2005-06 schedule Wednesday.
The Golden Knights begin their season Saturday, Nov. 5 when the squad travels to Chattanooga, Tenn. to participate in the Head of Chattahoochee. The team rounds out its fall schedule on Nov. 12 Florida Intercollegiate Rowing Association (FIRA) Fall Race in Fellsmere, Fla.
In the spring, the lightweights and open weights will once again follow separate schedules. During the month of March, the lightweights will participate in the Metro Cup, Rollins Invitational, Rollins Tri-Meet and Spring Break Race all in Winter Park.
The lightweights will also participate in the Knecht Cup in Cherry Hill, N.J., the prestigious Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia, Penn. before finishing the season at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Championships, an event considered to be the national championship, also in Cherry Hill.
The open weights begin their spring season in Tampa, Fla. at the Michigan Regatta March 4. The team will then travel to Fellsmere to participate in the Columbia/Syracuse/FIT Regatta March 18, and then the Petrakis Cup in Jacksonville the next weekend.
In April, the squad will participate in three major regattas. The first will be the Clemson Regatta in South Carolina followed by the FIRA Championships in Miami. The team will then travel to California to take part in the Stanford/UCLA/Washington State Regatta.
The final regatta of the season for the open weights is the South/Central Regional in Oakridge, Tenn. May 13-14.
