MIAMI - Florida International goalkeeper Shawn Crowe made two saves as the Golden Panthers shut out UCF, 3-0, in Conference USA men's soccer action at University Park on Saturday night.

FIU improved to 6-3-1 and stayed undefeated in conference play at 2-0-1, while the Golden Knights dropped to 6-3-1 overall and 1-1-1 in C-USA.

Although UCF senior Jon Imran earned a good scoring chance in the open minutes of the match, Jared Rose gave the Golden Panthers the early lead in the 15th minute with an assist to Lucas Scudeler.

Just over five minutes into the second half, David Hope increased the hosts' advantage to two goals when he knocked the ball into the open net. UCF freshman Mike Mattson was then denied the opportunity to negate the shutout as he failed to capitalize on a header only moments later.

Danny Vasquez added further insurance for FIU in the 89th minute off an assist from Judah Hernandez.

The Golden Panthers outshot UCF 21-12 and held a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks. Goalkeeper Ryan McIntosh stopped six shots for the Golden Knights.

"Obviously, this was a very disappointing result. We are a much better team than we showed tonight," said UCF head coach Brent Erwin. "We have to work hard in practice next week and get ready for two more matches on the road next week."

The Golden Knights travel to SMU on Oct. 14 before visiting Tulsa on Oct. 16.
