DALLAS, Texas - Despite double-doubles from outside hitters Maina Heming and Schanell Neiderworder, the UCF volleyball dropped a 3-1 (19-30, 32-30, 30-27, 30-23) Conference USA match at SMU on Tuesday evening. The contest at Moody Coliseum marked the first C-USA road match in program history for the Golden Knights (4-7, 2-2 C-USA). With the victory, SMU improves to 6-9 overall and 2-1 in league action.

Heming posted her fifth double-double of the season with 15 kills and 12 digs. Neiderworder registered a career-best 22 digs and also totaled 14 kills. Despite the loss, junior setter Leah Alexander tallied a career-high 49 assists.

The Golden Knights hit .275 as a team on their way to a convincing win in game one, but then hit no more than .176 as a team the rest of the way.

Junior middle blocker Jana Mitchell recorded 12 kills for UCF and added four block solos, which ties for sixth on the school's single-match register. Freshman libero Lindsay Randazzo's 33 digs were a career-high.

Three Mustangs finished with double-doubles, led by Stefanie Kons, who had a match-high 54 assists and also posted 14 digs. Rachel Giubilato totaled 19 kills and 20 digs and Caitlin Rainbird had 13 kills and 17 digs.

The Golden Knights were playing the first of three consecutive matches away from home. UCF will return to action on Friday evening, visiting East Carolina for a league contest. First serve in Greenville, N.C. is slated for 7 p.m.
