ORLANDO - UCF women's tennis head coach Patricia Allison recently announced the team's 2006 schedule, which includes matches against six teams ranked in the 2005 Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) final poll.

"We have put together another well-balanced schedule," said Allison. "We are going to have to work for every win, but I think we are up for the challenge. Playing these type of matches will only better prepare us for the Conference USA Championship."

UCF, which capped off the fall season with a successful showing in the ITA Southern Regional Tournament this month, plays a scrimmage against Flagler on Jan. 18 before hosting Georgia Southern in its regular season debut at the UCF Tennis Complex on Jan. 21. The team finishes out the month against perennial NCAA Tournament participant and in-state rival Florida.

The Golden Knights will compete against a group of familiar foes in February as they host USF and North Florida in Orlando, then travel to Tallahassee for matches vs. Florida State on Feb. 11 and Florida A&M on Feb. 12. UCF visits Miami mid-month to take on Florida International and Miami before a quick trip up I-95 North to square off against Jacksonville.

The team also hosts Eastern Michigan on Feb. 28 and Savannah State on March 6.

After traveling to Virginia for matches at Richmond and Old Dominion on March 12 and 13, the Golden Knights return home for five consecutive contests, including Buffalo, Minnesota, Murray State, Dartmouth and their C-USA opener against UTEP on March 25. They will also play league opponent Marshall on April Fool's Day in Louisville, Ky. before taking on the Cardinals the following day.

UCF's plays its regular-season finale on April 8 against Stetson and visits Rollins for a scrimmage on April 14.

The C-USA Championship is scheduled to take place in Tulsa, Okla. from April 20-23.

The Golden Knights finished last season with an 11-8 record and were ranked as high as No. 66 by the ITA.
