LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - Matt Prater hit a 28-yard field goal with 2.3 seconds remaining to give UCF a 24-21 win over Louisiana-Lafayette Saturday night.

UCF (2-2) led 21-0 going into the second quarter before the Ragin' Cajuns scored after a 47-yard drive to make it 21-7 going into the half.

Back-up quarterback Michael Desormeaux led an 11-play 80-yard drive in the third quarter to bring the Cajuns (1-3) within a touchdown. Desormeaux came in after starter Jerry Babb hurt his shoulder in the first series of the game and did not return.

Abdule Levier later scored on a 7-yard run to tie it up at 21-21.

The Golden Knights' defense continued to match the Cajuns defense stop for stop, until an errant 27-yard punt by the Cajuns gave UCF the ball on their 38 yard-line with 4:04 to play. Kevin Smith ran eight straight times to move UCF down to the Cajuns 11 yard-line with 21.9 seconds remaining. Time ran down to 5.3 seconds as UCF rushed to attempt the field goal, but the Cajuns called a timeout.
