ORLANDO - The UCF volleyball team had four players finish with double-doubles, but it was not enough as the Golden Knights dropped a Conference USA contest to visiting Houston, 3-2 (30-27, 23-30, 30-27, 25-30, 15-13), Sunday afternoon at UCF Arena. Junior setter Leah Alexander recorded her second consecutive double-double for the Golden Knights (4-11, 2-6 C-USA), finishing with a career-high 59 assists and 10 digs. The Cougars improve to 10-8 overall and 5-1 in league play.

"Credit goes to Leah for including our attackers in her set distribution," said UCF head coach Meg Colado. "That is an example of what fine setting can do."

For the match, UCF outhit the Cougars, .235 to .229. In the fifth game, Houston hit .435 to claim their fifth straight victory.

Sophomore outside hitter Schanell Neiderworder posted a career-high 21 kills. She also added 16 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Lorin Lukas chipped in with 15 kills and a career-high 16 digs. With 11 kills and 14 digs, junior outside hitter Maina Heming had her sixth double-double of the season.

In addition to a career-best nine total blocks, junior middle blocker Jana Mitchell recorded 12 kills. Freshman libero Lindsay Randazzo registered 24 digs. As a team, UCF totaled 10 service aces, with Alexander posting four and freshman middle blocker Jenny Heppert adding three.

Kariny Ritter led Houston with 31 kills and also had 12 digs. Justine Farmer added 17 kills and 12 digs in the win. Jennifer Hohl posted a match-high 65 assists and Jaci Gonzalez totaled 30 digs.

UCF concludes a three-match C-USA homestand on Tuesday evening, hosting Tulsa. First serve at UCF Arena is slated for 7 p.m.
