Women's Soccer Hosts East Carolina and Marshall in C-USA Action

ORLANDO, Fla.-The UCF women's soccer team (5-8, 2-1 C-USA) will host Eat Carolina (5-8, 1-2 C-USA) Friday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. and Marshall (1-11, 0-4 C-USA) Sunday, Oct. 16 at 1 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT FOR UCF
The Golden Knights lost to UTEP on Oct. 9, 1-0, in El Paso, Texas. The Miners scored their lone goal at the 15:28 mark when Kia Sams sent a corner kick toward the goal box for Jami Tullius to net. UCF was led by Michelle DeCespedes who had six shots on the afternoon, while Jennifer Montgomery paced the Golden Knights with three shots on goal.

TEAM LEADERS FOR UCF
Roberta Pelarigo leads the team in points with 16 (7 goals, 2 assists), while Jennifer Montgomery is second with seven points (3 goals, 1 assist). Pelarigo also paces the offense with 54 shots. Beth Harless has started seven contests in goal for the Golden Knights, while Jennifer Manis has made five starts and Julie Snaman has made one. Harless has allowed seven goals with 22 saves, one shutout and a 1.11 goals-against-average, while Manis has allowed eight goals with 10 saves and a 1.50 GAA.

UP NEXT FOR UCF
The Golden Knights will welcome Miami to Orlando on Tuesday, Oct. 18 with kickoff slated for 7 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT FOR EAST CAROLINA
East Carolina lost to UAB, 2-1, on Oct. 9 in Greenville, N.C. Rachel Hils scored ECU's goal three mintues into the second half. UAB responded with two goals, one by Sally Palmer and the other by Jill Porto. The Pirates outshot the Blazers, 15-11, while both teams took five corner kicks.

TEAM LEADERS FOR EAST CAROLINA
Leading the way for East Carolina is Meghan McCallion who has 18 points (6 goals, 6 assists). McCallion also paces the team in shots with 49. Amber Campbell has played in the net for all 13 matches where she has allowed 24 goals with 71 saves and a 1.89 GAA.

SERIES NOTE
This will be the second meeting between UCF and East Carolina on the turf. The match in 2000 ended in a 0-0 tie at the Florida State Invitational in Tallahassee, Fla.

LAST TIME OUT FOR MARSHALL
Marshall lost to Memphis, 2-1, in Huntington, W. Va. on Oct. 9. Kylie Hayes scored Memphis' first goal 29 minutes into the match. Emma White evened the score four minutes later on a penalty kick. Melissa Savage then netted the Tigers' second goal of the day five minutes before the half. Memphis outshot Marshall, 18-7, while the Tigers also took 10 corner kicks to the Thundering Herd's three. Kai Nordness had eight saves for Marshall, while Memphis' Joanna Alexopulos had four.

TEAM LEADERS FOR MARSHALL
Leading the way for Marshall is Erin Johnson who has four points (2 goals) with 15 shots. Five different players are tied for second with two points (1 goal) each. Kai Nordness has played in the net in nine matches for the Thundering Herd, allowing 16 goals with 49 saves for a 1.78 GAA.

SERIES NOTE
This will be the first meeting between UCF and Marshall on the turf.

AGAINST CONFERENCE USA TEAMS
In its first three Conference USA matches, UCF has outscored (7-3) and outshot (61-21) its league opponents. The Golden Knights have also recorded 21 points compared to just eight for their opponents. Julie Snaman and Beth Harless have shared time in the net for UCF where the duo has combined for a GAA of 0.97. Snaman and Harless have allowed three goals with seven saves and one shutout in the first three C-USA contests.

AMONG THE BEST IN C-USA
Forward Roberta Pelarigo and goalkeepers Beth Harless and Jennifer Manis are all ranked among the best in Conference USA. Pelarigo is fifth in shots (54), fourth in shots per game (4.15) and ninth in goals (7), while Harless and Manis are seventh and ninth in GAA, respectively. Against C-USA teams, Pelarigo ranks first in shots (19), shots per game (6.33), second in points (9), points per game (3.0), goals (4) and goals per game (1.33), while Jennifer Montgomery is sixth in goals (2) and goals per game (0.67), seventh in points per game (1.67) and eighth in points (5). Julie Snaman is ranked second in C-USA games for GAA (0.67) and save percentage (.857), while Harless is eighth in GAA (1.25).
