UCF's MidKnight Madness Set for Oct. 14

Sept. 28, 2005

ORLANDO - UCF will tipoff the 2005-06 college basketball season on Friday, Oct. 14 with its annual MidKnight Madness at UCF Arena. The festivities will follow the UCF volleyball team's match with Rice, which begins at 7 p.m.

The event will mark the first chance for fans to see coach Kirk Speraw's men's squad and coach Gail Striegler's women's team as they prepare for the Golden Knights first season in Conference USA. Both teams will participate in scrimmages, giving fans a sneak peak at the 2005-06 Golden Knights.

"MidKnight Madness is an opportunity for our fans to interact with the teams," said Striegler. "This is a good way to kickoff the year and a fun event for the fans and players alike."

Starting at 6 p.m., members of both basketball teams will sign autographs on the second floor mezzanine.

In addition to the scrimmages, MidKnight Madness will feature performances by Knight Moves and giveaways and contests for fans.

"This is a great chance for our fans to get a preview of our team," said Speraw. "MidKnight Madness is an event that our players really enjoy. They are ready to get the season underway and get back on the court."

The event is free for UCF students with a valid school ID. Admission for the volleyball match is $4 for adults and $2 for children.
