JACKSONVILLE - Junior midfielder Alejandro Gessen scored a goal and added an assist as the UCF men's soccer team dropped North Florida, 3-1, at UNF Soccer Stadium on Sunday night.

Gessen opened up the scoring with his second goal of the season in the 36th minute. Freshman Jermaine Walters connected on a header in the 43rd minute to give the Golden Knights a 2-0 lead. He was assisted by junior Mark Wong.

Six minutes later, UNF freshman Shareef Rajkumar cut the visitors lead to one at the intermission.

In the second half, senior captain Billy Judino extended UCF's lead to two goals in the 76th minute with his second tally in as many matches. Gessen assisted.

The Golden Knights dominated offensively with a 15-9 advantage in shots. Senior goalkeeper Ryan McIntosh stopped four shots for UCF, while Osprey Michael Frost made six saves.

It was the Golden Knights' (5-2) first road contest of the season. UNF (0-5-1) was hosting its first home game as a Division I program.

UCF returns to action on Sept. 30 when the team hosts Marshall in its first Conference USA match. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the UCF Soccer Complex.
