ORLANDO - After seven matches away from Orlando, the UCF volleyball makes its home debut on Tuesday, hosting Florida Atlantic at 4 p.m. at UCF Arena. The Golden Knights (2-5) started the season with five road matches and also participated in one tournament. Florida Atlantic enters the match undefeated with a 12-0 record.

Prior to the match, UCF officials will collect donations that will be directed to victims of Hurricane Katrina. All donations will be given to the United Way.

Spectators should park in the garage next to the Convocation Center housing on the third, fourth and fifth floors only.

ABOUT UCF UCF returns to action after dropping a 3-1 (30-19, 33-35, 30-19, 30-23) contest at USF on Friday. Junior middle blocker Jana Mitchell paced the Golden Knights against the Bulls, finishing with 13 kills and four blocks. On the year, she leads the squad in kills (2.92) and is second in blocks per game (0.75). Junior outside hitter Maina Heming has a pair of double-doubles on the season and is averaging 2.84 kills per game. At libero, senior Katie Kohnen is averaging a team-best 3.54 digs per game and sophomore setter Kim Clonan is leading the way, averaging 10.36 assists per game.

Head coach Meg Colado is in her seventh season at UCF. She has a 128-87 (.595) overall coaching mark and is 113-71 (.614) with the Golden Knights.

ABOUT FAU The Owls are undefeated on the season, winning all 12 of their matches. The team is 6-0 away from home. This past weekend, the squad claimed the Ocean Bank Invitational in Durham, N.H. In a 3-2 win over Boston College on Saturday, Kelly Paiva totaled 33 kills. On the year, she is averaging 5.64 kills per game. Katie Arvidson is averaging 3.93 kills per game and adding 1.23 blocks per game. At setter, Casey LaRocca paces the team in assists per game (11.84) while Makra Condill is averaging 3.75 digs per game. In his 10th campaign at FAU, coach Jody Brown has a 157-135 record.

UCF AGAINST THE OWLS The Golden Knights lead the all-time series, 25-6. The two squads are former Atlantic Sun Conference rivals. The Owls are spending their last season in the A-Sun before moving to the Sun Belt. UCF is 12-2 at home versus Florida Atlantic. Under head coach Meg Colado, the Golden Knights have won 10 of 12 matches with the Owls. In the 2004 meeting, the Owls claimed a 3-1 (28-30, 30-28, 30-21, 30-27) contest in Orlando. The Golden Knights have won 10 of the last 12 series meetings.

ACES WILD Freshman middle blocker Jenny Heppert recorded six service aces at USF on Sept. 16, on shy of the school record. On the year, she has 16 aces in five matches played.

AN EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE Due to a scheduling conflict at UCF Arena, the Golden Knights match with Tulsa on Sept. 25 will be played at the Education Gym on the UCF campus. The contest will mark the first Conference USA home match for the Golden Knights. The Education Gym is the former home of the UCF volleyball team. The squad moved to UCF Arena at the start of the 1994 season. On Nov. 13, 1993, the Golden Knights made their last appearance at the venue, topping Southeast Louisiana, 3-0, to win the Trans America Athletic Conference title.

UCF SIDELINES At 6-2, junior college transfer Vesna Ukic is the tallest outside hitter to play at UCF under head coach Meg Colado... Kohnen and Jana Mitchell have been selected by the coaching staff as team captains... Florida Atlantic is the second Atlantic Sun team that UCF has played this season. The squad faced Jacksonville on Aug. 3. UCF also will face North Florida, a first-year member of the league, on Nov. 8.

ON DECK UCF will make its Conference USA debut on Friday, heading to Dallas, Texas to face SMU. The schools will be meeting for the first time on the court... The Golden Knights have not played in Texas since 1997 when the squad participated in the Ladyjack Invitational, hosted by Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches.
