ORLANDO - Senior captain Pamela Fernandez and sophomores Kyla McNicol and Jennifer Carati will join the men's team from Florida State to compete at the Thomasville Collegiate Invitational in Thomasville, Ga. from Friday through Sunday.
The tournament, which features squads from Georgia Tech, Georgia State and Georgia in addition to the Golden Knight women and Seminole men, will be conducted in a round robin format. The teams will compete in singles, doubles and mixed doubles matches at the Glen Arden Country Club.
Head coach Patricia Allison said selecting which players to take to the invitational was a difficult one. "I chose Pam, Kyla and Jenny, but Becky Gordon also made some dramatic improvements in her game over the summer. It was a tough decision."
Fernandez is scheduled to play singles and could also see time in doubles with McNicol. Carati will most likely compete in mixed doubles and singles.
"This is an exciting opportunity for our team," said Allison. "The girls have really worked hard and are ready to compete."
Last spring, the Golden Knights posted an overall record of 11-8 and were ranked as high as No. 66 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
