ORLANDO - The UCF football team practiced in helmets and shoulder pads Monday morning on the outdoor practice fields. The Golden Knights held a high-tempo, intense two-hour practice before the start of classes this afternoon at UCF.
"With the first day of school normally the players have so many things they are thinking about, so I wanted to get their attention right away and we did," stated UCF head coach George O'Leary. "We had a good practice this morning."
Tuesday looks to be a critical day for several players as UCF holds its final scrimmage of the preseason. O'Leary stated he will set the two-deep roster and scout teams following Tuesday's scrimmage.
"They (players) need to understand we are getting ready to scrimmage tomorrow ... getting ready to get into a game week," added O'Leary.
Junior quarterback Steven Moffett found plenty of success in throwing to senior wide receiver Brandon Marshall in Monday's workout. During the half-line passing skeleton period, Moffett hit Marshall on several third down conversions, including a 70-yard touchdown pass down the sideline.
Marshall also made the play of the day with a one-handed reception on the team's first third down conversion. The offense performed well in a period consisting of third down plays.
The Golden Knights practice Tuesday from 9:30-11:30 a.m.
