Bigby Signs Free Agent Contract with the New York Jets

Aug. 11, 2005

ORLANDO - Former UCF safety Atari Bigby signed a free agent contract with the New York Jets Thursday. The Miami native was waived by the Miami Dolphins on July 25. A two-time all-MAC performer, Bigby finished his career in the top 10 in UCF history with 296 career tackles.

Bigby's UCF teammate, the school's all-time leading rusher and Orlando native Alex Haynes, signed a contract with the Baltimore Ravens last week.

Another former UCF standout also joined the NFL ranks last month. The Minnesota Vikings signed wide receiver Siaha Burley, a favorite target of quarterback Daunte Culpepper in college, when they were teammates at UCF. Burley has spent the past five seasons in the Arena Football League, earning Player of the Year honors for 2005.

Currently, there are 14 former Golden Knights on NFL rosters.
