July 25, 2005

WINNIPEG, Manitoba - Kyla McNicol, a sophomore on the UCF women's tennis team, proved to be a true triple threat when she claimed three titles at the Manitoba Open in her hometown recently.

McNicol started off the tournament's championship weekend by earning the mixed doubles crown with her partner Jon Causon on July 16. The following day, she defeated Alexa Zayac, 6-4, 6-2, to win her third Manitoba Open women's singles title before teaming with Alana Miller to beat Zayac and Misa Simonova, 6-2, 6-2, in the women's doubles final.

Joining the Golden Knights in the fall of 2004, McNicol went 22-12 overall, including a 7-7 record in singles competition. She and doubles partner Kristina Lohmos posted a team-best 11-4 mark during the spring.
