Strong Efforts Lead Women's Track and Field at Seminole Twilight

TALLAHASSEE - Paced by strong efforts in the pole vault, high jump and hurdles, UCF women's track and field team competed well in the Seminole Twlight on Saturday night.

Sophomore Katie Fowke, the Knights record holder in the event at 12-0, posted a mark of 11-3.75 as the runner-up, while freshman Kelsely Bealert took fifth at 9-10.

In the high jump, senior co-captain Ann-Louise Larsen also finished second with a leap of 5-8.75. It was the seventh time this season she met the NCAA Regional qualifying standard. Sophomore LesSundra Ford was third at 5-5.

The only athlete competing in two events, junior Diana Chin raced to a fourth place showing in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.06 then grabbed sixth in the long jump. Classmate Lynnsey Hicks was seventh in the long jump.

Meanwhile, freshman Vicky Chin narrowly missed the NCAA Regional qualifying time in the 400m hurdles at 61.18 as she earned fourth place. The standard is 60.82.

A trio of Golden Knights also ran the 800m. Sophomore Karen Kozub was seventh at 2:16.25 followed by classmate Christina Jones in ninth at 2:16.93. Redshirt freshman Kristen Zieminski finished 11th at 2:20.79.

The Knights cap the regular season as they travel to the Georgia Tech Invitational on May 13 and 14.
