May 23, 2005

CLEMSON, S.C. - UCF rowers Amy Price and Krystina Sarff were named Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Scholar-Athletes, the organization announced on Monday.

The recognition is given to student-athletes with a 3.5 or better cumulative grade point average who competed in 75-percent of the team's spring races. Price, a senior co-captain and economics major, was honored for the second consecutive year, while Sarff, a sophomore art education major, earned her first award.

Both women were members of the Golden Knights' Varsity Eight boat that was ranked as high as fifth in the NCAA South Region Poll. The crew also won the Florida Intercollegiate Rowing Association (FIRA) Championship and took second at the San Diego Crew Classic and the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship in 2005.

A total of 142 student-athletes from 49 different schools received the award, with 28 rowers honored in the South Region.
