ORLANDO, Fla. - Stephanie Best and Lindsay Enders were both named to the All-Southeast Region Second Team announced by National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) earlier this morning. The regional honor was Best's third and Enders' first.
Best and Enders guided UCF to a 46-27-1 record this season, and the program's first Atlantic Sun Championship. Best paced the Golden Knights with a .335 batting average leading the nation with 25 home runs. She also knocked in a team-high 56 RBI, while Enders led the pitching staff with personal bests including 25 wins and a 1.58 ERA. She also broke program records throwing 283.2 innings, and 39 complete games.
Throughout the post season, the duo has collected other accolades. Best was named the Atlantic Sun Player of the Year for the third consecutive season as well as picking up A-Sun First Team and A-Sun All-Tournament Team honors. She was also recognized for her hard work off the field and ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III Second Team. Enders was named A-Sun Tournament MVP pitching all but four innings for the Golden Knights in the A-Sun Tournament last weekend. She was dominant in conference play going 9-1 being named to the A-Sun First Team. Enders has quality wins against ranked opponents DePaul, Washington, and Georgia Tech this season.
Best, Enders and the rest of the UCF softball team return to the diamond tomorrow afternoon in Gainesville, Fla. where they will take on USF. First pitch is slated for 1:00 p.m. The game can be heard live on UCFathletics.com
