Softball Takes First Game of the 2005 Atlantic Sun Tournament

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Lindsay Enders earned the win in the circle for UCF along with plating the game-winning RBI as the Golden Knights defeat Lipscomb, 3-1. The Black and Gold improve to 42-26-1 on the season, while the Lady Bisons fall to 27-23 on the season.

Enders was 1-for-3 at the plate with one double and two RBI, while also picking up her 22nd win of the season in the circle. Bryttani Lindheim was 2-for-3 at the plate with two singles, while Crystle Krafft was 1-for-3 with one home run, one RBI and one run scored.

Lipscomb jumped out to a 1-0 lead first in the bottom of the third when Katie Richards led off with a walk and then was moved over to second on a sacrifice bunt. Richards then moved 60 feet closer on an Enders' wild pitch. Enders then walked Julia Davidson to put runners on the corners. Jessica Wilson stepped up to the plate and hit an RBI single into left center scoring Richards from third.

In UCF's half of the fifth, Krafft led off the inning by hitting her 10th home run of the season over the left field fence to tie the score at one apiece.

Enders helped her own cause in the top of the sixth when she ripped a two out, two-run double into the left center field gap, scoring Nicole Balogh and Stephanie Best. Balogh came in earlier in the inning to run for Lindheim who singled to center field followed by Best who walked.

For Lipscomb, Wilson was 1-for-2 with a single and an RBI, while Danielle Catalano was tagged with the loss in the circle. Catalano pitched six innings for the Lady Bisons giving up three runs on six hits, two walks and five strikeouts.

The Golden Knights return to the softball diamond this evening at 8 p.m. taking on the winner of the Florida Atlantic/Stetson game which will be played at 1 p.m. All of UCF's games at the tournament will be broadcast live via the internet at www.ucfathletics.com along with live stats.
