ORLANDO - The UCF men's golf team was awarded an at-large bid Monday to the NCAA East Regional Golf Championships, which will be played May 19-21 at the Golf Club of Tennessee in Nashville. The Golden Knights are seeded 14th in the field of 27 teams and are making their second consecutive trip to NCAA postseason play.
"We're excited about the opportunity to extend our season and we're looking forward to competing for a spot in the NCAA Championships," UCF coach Nick Clinard said.
The top 10 teams at each of three regional sites will advance to the NCAA championships June 1-4 at the Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Md.
UCF won the Atlantic Sun Conference's automatic bid last year and competed in the West Regional in Sunriver, Ore. and missed advancing to the NCAA Championships by just six shots.
This will be the ninth appearance for the Golden Knights in an NCAA Division I Regional Golf Championship. UCF has advanced to the NCAA Championships three times.
