ORLANDO - Junior Diana Chin shattered school records in two events as the UCF women's track and field team competed in the Golden Knight Twilight, the final home meet of the season, on Saturday evening.
In the long jump, Chin surpassed her own school record of 19 feet, 9.50 inches set earlier this year. The new mark of 20-0.50 was good enough for first place and also tied the stadium record established by Shonda Swift in 1996. It also marked the second time this season that Chin earned an NCAA Regional qualifying mark.
Chin then took second in the 100-meter hurdles with a school record time of 13.81, which also bettered the NCAA Regional qualifying standard by .14 seconds.
Earlier in the day, sophomore Katie Fowke grabbed top honors in the pole vault at 11-9.75. Freshman Michelle Teuton was fourth at 10-3.50, while classmate Kelsey Bealert posted a new season best at the same height and placed fifth. Sophomore Tracy Fischler was seven with a personal best of 9-9.75.
The Golden Knights swept the top three places in the 800m run. Sophomore Karen Kozub claimed first at 2:15.43 followed by sophomore Christina Jones in second at 2:16.30 and freshman Kristen Zieminski in third at 2:18.77.
In the throws, junior Tiffany Roebuck was second in the shot put at 45-7, while freshman Sade Kusimo finished second in the discus at 140-1. Freshman Virginia Traynor took fourth in the both events.
The Golden Knights return to action at the Seminole Twilight on May 7 in Tallahassee.
