ORLANDO - Distance runner Jamie Rzepecki of East Aurora, N.Y. signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to join the UCF women's cross country and track and field teams in the fall of 2005, head coach Marcia Mansur-Wentworth announced on Thursday.
As a member of the East Aurora High School cross country team, Rzepecki has a personal best of 18:44 in the 5K. She also has a time of 11:00 in the 3000m and posted a 7:30 in the 2000m steeplechase, an event in which she was a state finalist.
"I am looking forward to working with Jamie. She has a great work ethic and excellent potential," said Mansur-Wentworth.
Rzepecki joins fellow New Yorker and sprinter Olinka Crusoe in the 2005-06 recruiting class.
The Golden Knights have won 10 Atlantic Sun Championships - two in cross country and eight in track and field. They make the move to Conference USA starting in 2005-06.
