Women's Track and Field Finishes Strong at USF Brighthouse Invitational

April 2, 2005

TAMPA - Led by senior captain Ann-Louise Larsen, the UCF women's track and field team capped off the final day of USF Brighthouse Invitational with impressive performances.

For the fourth time in as many meets, Larsen surpassed the NCAA Regional mark with a leap of 5 feet, 8.75 inches in the high jump as she placed third.

Sophomore Katie Fowke tied her school record and had a season best with a mark of 12-0 in the pole vault. She posted the original record at the same meet last year.

In the throws, junior Tiffany Roebuck had a season best in the discus at 145-0.

On the track, sophomore Karen Kozub finished second in the 800-meter run at 2:13.52, while classmate Christina Jones (Coral Springs HS) posted a time of 2:17.90.

Heavy winds affected many of the races, especially the sprints. Junior Diana Chin was third in the 100m hurdles, while younger sister Vicky Chin placed third in the 400m hurdles.

The elder Chin was also a member of the 4x100m relay team that also included sophomores Jenny Rogan and LaToya Green and junior Tavia Record. The Golden Knights finished sixth in the event at 47.23.

After a one-week hiatus, the Golden Knights travel to Nashville, Tenn. to defend their conference title at the 2005 Atlantic Sun Championships.
