MACON, Ga. - UCF right-hand pitcher Mike Billek earned Atlantic Sun Pitcher of the Week honors as named by the league office on Monday. Billek threw a career-high eight shutout innings in earning the win over Belmont.
The honor was the first of Billek's career. He is the second Golden Knight pitcher to be named the conference pitcher of the week in 2005, joining Tim Bascom.
Mike Billek, of Palm Harbor, Fla., turned in one of the best outings in his career as he threw eight shutout innings in leading UCF to a three-game sweep of Belmont. Billek struck out eight batters and yielded just three hits and two walks.
Billek improved to 3-1 on the season with a 3.52 ERA.
