UCF Spring Football Practice Report No. 12

April 15, 2005

ORLANDO - The UCF football team held its 13th practice of the spring under cool and breezy conditions Friday morning in Orlando. The Golden Knights were on the field for roughly 90 minutes in helmets and shoulder pads.

"I think tomorrow's scrimmage is a culmination of what we have done for 13 practices," stated UCF head coach George O'Leary. "We have installed a great deal and the kids have really had a good spring. I am pleased with the coaching on the field and the reception of the coaching."

The Golden Knights used part of Friday's practice to work on blitz protection and punt protection, in addition to the normal team and individual periods.

Saturday's scrimmage will be the final time for the players to showcase their skills in front of the coaching staff. The scrimmage is scheduled to run between 85-90 plays Saturday.

"We have to continue to address things - everything is not perfect. Obviously, it never is, or else you would not need spring ball," O'Leary added. "I think the key objective tomorrow is to go out and execute on both sides of the ball. I would to see the final scrimmage end with crisp blocking and tackling along with productivity on both sides of the ball." Saturday's practice is scheduled from 10:05 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. The scrimmage is open to the media and public, but photographs and video are prohibited during the scrimmage session.
