Feaster Leads Golden Knights as Softball Splits with Georgia State

PANTHERSVILLE, Ga. - Kacie Feaster was 3-for-6 at the plate for UCF as the Golden Knights split with Atlantic Sun rival Georgia State. The Knights (36-22-1, 8-4 A-Sun) took game one 4-0 only to fall to the Lady Panthers (16-30, 5-9 A-Sun) in the second game, 6-2.

Feaster was 3-for-6 with two singles, one double and one RBI. Lindsay Enders earned her 18th win of the season, pitching seven innings and giving up no runs on four hits, one walk and two strikeouts. Ashley Baker was tagged with game two's loss, bringing her pitching record to 5-5 on the season.

In game one, UCF plated three runs in the top of the fifth on three hits and one error.

Stephanie Best added another run in the top of the seventh on a solo home run, her 20th of the season, to left field to give the Golden Knights a 4-0 win.

At the end of the first game, UCF had four runs on seven hits and no errors, while Georgia State had no runs on four hits and one error.

Jania Shinhoster led the Black and Gold at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two singles and one run, while Best was 1-for-2 with a home run, two walks and one run. Enders picked up the win for the Knights in the circle after pitching the complete game shutout.

Allison Bradford, Maria Melts, Lauren Morlock and Meghan McCoy each had the hits for the Lady Panthers, while Elizabeth Hyman was tagged with the loss in the circle.

The nightcap started with Georgia State putting a one spot on the board in the bottom of the first on three hits and one error.

The Lady Panthers added three more runs in the bottom of the third to extend Georgia State's lead to 4-0.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Lady Panthers added two more runs on three hits.

UCF scored one run in the top of the fifth when Shinhoster reached on an error scoring Crystle Krafft from third.

The Knights scored one more run in the top of the seventh but it was not enough to overcome Georgia State's 6-1 lead.

The second game ended with Georgia State up, 6-2.

Feaster was 2-for-4 at the plate in game two with two singles and an RBI. Baker gave up four runs on seven hits and two walks in 2.2 innings of work.

Mary Kathryn Branan and Bradford were both 2-for-4 at the plate for the Lady Panthers, while McCoy earned the win in the circle giving up two runs on four hits, one walk and three strikeouts in seven innings.

The Golden Knights return to action on Sunday in Macon, Ga. when the squad takes on Mercer in a twinbill with the first pitch slated for 2 p.m.

UCF returns home on Saturday, April 23 when the team hosts A-Sun rival Jacksonville on Senior Day. The Senior Day activities will begin at 1:30 p.m. with the first pitch to follow at 2 p.m.
