TAMPA - Juniors Diana Chin and Tiffany Roebuck both earned NCAA Regional marks in their events as the UCF women's track and field team opened competition at the USF Brighthouse Invitational on Friday.
Chin broke the school record in the long jump with a leap of 19 feet, 9.25 inches (6.03 meters), which also surpassed the NCAA Regional qualifying standard of 5.95m. The previous school record was set by Corliss Cade at 19-5.5 in 2000.
In the hammer throw, Roebuck went over the NCAA Regional mark for the third time this season as she earned threw 182-0. Earlier this season, she shattered her own school record with a mark of 185-10.
Chin and her younger sister Vicky Chin also advanced to the finals of the 100m hurdles.
Competition at the USF Brighthouse Invitational continues on Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m.
