ORLANDO - The UCF women's tennis team returns to Atlantic Sun competition this weekend when it travels to Macon, Ga. to take on Mercer on Saturday and Troy on Sunday.

The Golden Knights (5-6 overall, 2-0 A-Sun) are riding a three-match winning streak after a tough start to the season. They opened up with four losses to ranked teams before earning their first victory in a shutout of Morgan State.

Reigning conference player of the week, senior Kristina Lohmos has performed well on the court recently. She has won each of her last three singles matches, including a two-set victory over 2004 A-Sun Player of the Year Emese Sulyos of Jacksonville, while also going 3-0 at No. 1 doubles with freshman partner Kyla McNicol.

Freshman Anna Yakimchenkova has also been impressive of late winning her last three matches and improving her overall record to 6-3.

The Golden Knights have a 3-1 record against Mercer (1-4, 0-1 A-Sun) in the all-time series but have not played the Bears since 1998. The two meet this year due to the new division play set up by the conference.

UCF will also play Troy in Macon this weekend. The Lady Trojans have not played a match since Feb. 26, when they were shutout out by Mississippi State, 7-0. The Golden Knights lost to Troy by a score of 4-2 last season in the 2004 Atlantic Sun Championship match but have an 8-1 record in the all-time series.
