UCF Storms Past the Trojans

ORLANDO - Playing its final home match of the season, the UCF men's tennis team claimed a 4-0 victory over Arkansas-Little Rock on a sunny Wednesday afternoon at the UCF Tennis Complex. The Golden Knights record their second consecutive win and improve to 10-8, while the visitors fall to 10-8 on the year.

UCF opened the match by taking the doubles point. At No. 2, seniors Rhett Rosen and Simon Jaeger handled Dinko Halachev and Juan Carlos Nunez, 8-4.

The Golden Knight senior duo of Joel Allen and Antonio Sierra earned an 8-5 victory at the top doubles spot against Edson Abrao and Eduardo Autran. The Trojans won at No. 3 as Rain Roigas and Tim Walter defeated sophomore Sebastian Delgado and freshman Sinan Sudas (8-4).

After winning the doubles point, UCF needed to claim three matches to win the contest. Delgado topped Ricardo Rojas, 7-5, 6-1 at No. 5. Sierra won his 10th straight tilt with a 6-4, 6-4 No. 4 victory versus Roigas. Junior Ener Gursoy clinched the match at No. 1, beating Autran (6-4, 7-5).

Prior to the contest, UCF's five seniors were honored before their last home match. Allen, Jaeger, Rosen, Paul Ramy and Sierra all competed for the final time on their home courts.

The Golden Knights return to action on Wednesday, April 6 with an Atlantic Sun match at Stetson.
