UCF Pulls out of Final Day of Florida Relays

March 26, 2005

ORLANDO - Due to the forecasts of inclement weather and possible event cancellations, the UCF women's track and field team opted to stay home rather than drive to Gainesville to finish competing in the Florida Relays on Saturday.

It proved to be the correct decision. After delaying the start times of the collegiate events until 1 p.m., University of Florida officials decided to cancel the final day of competition due to thunderstorms in the Gainesville area. The Golden Knights were scheduled to compete in the 100-meter hurdles, high jump and relays.

Rain and high winds caused much of Friday's competition schedule to be delayed as well, while the sprinting events were cancelled entirely.

UCF returns to competition at the USF Bull Invitational from April 1-2 in Tampa.
