JACKSONVILLE - The UCF women's rowing team put on a united front for the first time this spring and swept all four events at the Petrakis Cup on Saturday morning.
The Varsity Eight, which featured Amy Price, Kyla Smith, Tanya Kleisler, Melissa Westhoff, Katherine Motes, Krystina Sarff, Becky Meale, Mary Rosser and coxswain Lisa Beltran, opened up the regatta with a time of 7:16.9 in their event and took home the Mary B. Petrakis Trophy. The Junior Varsity Eight placed second in that race at 7:45.0.
The Varsity Lightweight Eight also earned first place at 8:27.2, while the Novice Lightweight Eight followed in third place at 9:06.5. In the Novice Eight race, UCF's "A" boat finished in the top spot at 8:42.0 and the "B" crew was fourth at 9:20.1.
Finally, the Golden Knights' Varsity Four crossed the finish line ahead of both host Jacksonville and UCF's Junior Varsity Four to complete the sweep.
It was the first regatta that the Golden Knight lightweight, open and novice squads competed in as a whole this season.
The Golden Knight varsity open and lightweight eight boats travel to California for the San Diego Crew Classic from April 2-3.
