GAINESVILLE - Sophomore Katie Fowke headlined the list of UCF women's track and field performers at the Florida Relays despite several event delays and cancellations due to the inclement weather.
After rains and wind delayed the start of the pole vault, Fowke earned a mark of 3.50 meters (11 feet, 5.75 inches) to place 12th.
"Katie has been very consistent in the pole vault this season," said UCF head coach Marcia Mansur-Wentworth. "I was very proud of her effort today, competing so well in adverse conditions."
Meanwhile, the Golden Knights also competed in the 4x200m relay. The team of sophomores Jenny Rogan and LaToya Green, freshman Vicky Chin and junior Tavia Record had a school record of 1:40.68 to finish 13th.
The weather forced the cancellation of the 200m, 400m, 800m and 400m hurdle events, while delaying several other events.
Competition concludes on Saturday.
