ORLANDO - The UCF men's tennis team snapped a six-match winning streak on Tuesday afternoon, dropping a 5-2 contest to 21st-ranked Tennessee at the UCF Tennis Complex. The Golden Knights fall to 8-7 on the campaign while the Vols improve to 9-3.
Senior Joel Allen gave the hosts a singles point with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Mark Dietrich at No. 1. Dietrich entered the match ranked 43rd nationally.
At No. 4, senior Antonio Sierra rallied for a 3-6, 7-6, 10-7 (super-tiebreaker) win against Ockie Oosthuizen. The Vols took victories at the No. 2, 3, 5 and 6 positions.
Tennessee opened the match by sweeping all three doubles tilts. Ben Rogers and Oosthuizen, the 8th-ranked tandem in the nation, earned an 8-5 win at No. 1 versus Allen and Sierra.
UCF had not lost since Feb. 25.
The Golden Knights play the second contest of a four-match homestand on Thursday against Air Force. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
