TALLAHASSEE - Led by the efforts of senior captain Ann-Louise Larsen and junior LaToya Green, the UCF women's track and field team claimed a number of top 10 finishes during the second day of competition at the FSU Relays at Mike Long Track on Friday.
Larsen took home top honors in the high jump for the third consecutive meet and met the NCAA Regional standard in the event for the second time this year after leaping 1.75 meters (5 feet, 8.75 inches). Sophomore LesSundra Ford tied for fifth at 1.65m (5-5).
In the sprints, Green claimed the title in the 100m dash at 12.16, while sophomore Jenny Rogan was fourth. Rogan then took second in the 200m event with Green following in third. Elsewhere, junior Diana Chin had a season best time of 14.11 to place second in the 100m hurdles and sister Vicky Chin was fourth with a personal best of 14.52. In the 400m hurdles, junior Kylene Colasanti finished sixth with a season best of 65.94.
After breaking the school record and placing first in the garnet section of the shot put on Thursday, junior Tiffany Roebuck was second in the gold section of the event with a mark of 13.92m (45-8). Sophomore Katie Fowke was second in the garnet section of the pole vault at 3.35m (10-11.75) and will compete in the event's gold section today.
In the middle distance events, UCF junior Astrid Claessens and sophomore Karen Kozub finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
Also performing well were several members of the Golden Knight men's cross country team, who were running unattached. Freshman Jake Wilke was second in the 5,000m gold section at 14:55.30, a time that ranks second all-time at UCF. Sophomore siblings Brent and Ryan White took second and fourth in the 1500m run.
Competition at the FSU Relays concludes today.
