Lohmos Comeback Aces UCF Win over Houston.

ORLANDO -Using an impressive comeback from senior co-captain Kristina Lohmos at No. 1 singles, UCF (8-7) snatched an exciting 4-3 win over Houston (10-5) in women's tennis action at the UCF Tennis Complex on Saturday afternoon.

After Lohmos lost the first set battle in a tiebreak to Biljana Dimovska, 7-6, the two players were on serve in the second set. The score 5-4 when Lohmos broke Dimovska's serve and went on to win two consecutive games to take the set. With the match clinching point on the line, the Houston senior went up 3-0 before Lohmos rebounded to take the final set 6-3.

The Golden Knights opened the match by winning the doubles point. At the No. 2 position, Lohmos and freshman Kyla McNicol stretched their winning streak to seven matches with an 8-4 win over Cougars duo Kami Miller and Diana Martin. The Knights also took a victory at No. 3 as sophomore Megan Hunter and freshman Anna Yakimchenkova went 8-3 over Brianna Bateup and Sarah Reimer.

McNicol put the Knights ahead 2-0 with her 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles before Houston won three straight matches. UCF junior co-captain Pamela Fernandez defeated Bateup, 6-4, 7-5, at No.2 to tie the match at three all.

"This was a great win for us," said Knights' head coach Patricia Allison. "The players put forth a great effort and continue to improve with each match. I am proud of them."

Next up, the Golden Knights host Kansas on March 23 at 11 a.m.
