ORLANDO - The UCF men's tennis team posted its fourth-consecutive victory on Saturday afternoon, getting past visiting USF, 4-3, at the UCF Tennis Complex. The Golden Knights improve to 6-6 on the year. USF drops its fifth-straight match and falls to 3-8.
Freshman Sinan Sudas clinched the match for UCF, hanging on for a 7-5, 6-4 win over Matias Sigel at No. 6.
At No. 2, senior Joel Allen recorded a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Juan Barragan. Playing at No. 5, senior Antonio Sierra earned a win against Juan Carlos Gomez (7-5, 6-4).
UCF opened the match by sweeping the three doubles tilts. Junior Ener Gursoy and sophomore Sebastian Delgado blasted Sigel and Mark Gattiker at No. 3, 8-2.
Allen and Sierra improved to 7-0 on the year at No. 1 doubles. The pair topped Kiendl and Barton, 8-6. Dillon Borzyna and Barragan pushed seniors Simon Jaeger and Rhett Rosen at No. 2, but the UCF duo took a 9-8 (7-4) victory.
The Golden Knights now head to California for a pair of matches next week. The team faces Denver (March 17) and Iowa (March 18) in San Diego.
