CLEARWATER, Fla. - Crystle Krafft scored the two runs against USF in day three of the 2005 Speedline Tournament as UCF fell to No. 10 Baylor, 1-0 in eight innings, and USF, 6-2. The Golden Knights fell to 22-14-1 on the season.
Krafft scored the only runs for UCF on the day after hitting a double followed by being hit by a pitch to get on base. Bryttani Lindheim had a hit against both Baylor and USF along with Cici Alvarez and Lindsay Enders.
In the USF game, the Bulls scored first in the second inning on a solo shot by Krista Holle. The Knights threatened in their half of the inning when Krafft walked to lead-off the inning followed by a single by Enders, however, neither were able to make it around to score.
USF scored again in the fourth inning when Laura Wolfe hit another solo shot for the Bulls making it 2-0. The Black and Gold responded with a run of their own when Krafft doubled to start off the inning. She advanced to third on a wild pitch. Enders then put the ball in play to score Krafft from third. The inning ended with USF up, 2-1.
In the fifth inning, the Bulls put a three spot on the board after Tiffany Stewart led off with a single. She then stole second base. Stewart moved to third on an error by UCF and then scored on a single by Carmela Liwag. Samantha Ray reached base on the error and then stole second. Ray and Liwag both scored on a double by Holle. The Bulls were then up 5-1.
Krafft scored again in sixth for the Golden Knights when she reached base after being hit by a pitch. She advanced to second on an Enders ground-out followed by a Shinhoster single to rightfield moving Krafft to third. Krafft scored on a passed ball by the Bulls making it 6-2.
USF scored one more in the top of the seventh for the final score of 6-2.
UCF returns to action on Sunday when they take on Purdue at 9 a.m. in the final day of the 2005 Speedline Tournament. The Knights will play Bradley Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the UCF Softball Complex.
