GAINESVILLE - Senior high jumper and UCF women's track and field team captain Ann-Louise Larsen fell short of qualifying for the NCAA Indoor Championship, but landed in third at the Florida Last Chance Meet on Thursday afternoon.
Larsen, who has twice qualified for the NCAA Regional Championships in the outdoor event, jumped over the bar at the 1.74-meter (5-feet, 8.5 inches) mark. She then missed her three attempts at 1.80m. The NCAA provisional qualifying standard is 1.78m, while the automatic qualifying mark is 1.84m.
"Ann was very please with her performance," said Knights' head coach Marcia Mansur-Wentworth. "Now we'll be looking for bigger and better things from her this season."
A three-time all-conference honoree, Larsen set the indoor school record in the high jump at the Gator Invitational earlier this season with a mark of 1.75m.
Larsen and the rest of the Golden Knights open the outdoor season when they host the UCF Invitational on Saturday at 11 a.m.
